About the Author
Darren R. Rousar, editor and publisher of Landscape Painting, studied privately with Richard Lack and attended Atelier LeSueur, both in Minnesota, as well as Studio Cecil-Graves in Florence, Italy. He was the assistant director and an instructor at Charles Cecil Studios in Florence, after which he became vice president of The Minnesota River School of Fine Art in Burnsville, Minnesota. This is a reprint of letters written to starting artists in the mid 1800's. The advice given was interesting and will give you new ideas as to how to approach landscape painting but I was looking for a "primer". Printed in black and white with few illustrations it was not what I was looking for. I should have read the reviews to have an idea of this book first to better assess wether it fit my needs.
