Opened up a whole new world to me. Thought Suzanne Somers was just an actress - no way - she interviews cutting edge Dr's and the book is the interviews. My life has done a turn around because of Suzanne Somers. I applaud her efforts and what she has done to help us live healthier, longer lives
I find all of the Somersizing diet/ healthful eating books to have a wealth of helpful information. I'm losing weight and eating a wide range of whole foods. I think this is easy to follow once you catch on to combing the proper food elements!Lost 8lbs in 3 weeks and I am feeling well! Last time I did this plan, I was so worried that I would gain weight and mess up my cholesterol. However, I was very pleased to see that my levels
Great book - packed with so much information that it takes time to read and process it all. Eating plan is very sound and works. You CAN eat a ton of food and get back to your desired healthy weight. Suzanne Somers is amazing in her research and practice. Be ready to commit, and you will not be disappointed. Weight loss is steady - several of my friends all started her program, and we all have experienced healthy weight loss and new eating habits. And, we are all in our late 50's and early 60's. I now weigh what I did in my 30's - meaning I have lost about 30 pounds over a period of 6 months. You never feel like you are dieting - because you aren't. You are just learning to eat well. I am 5'8" and back in my size 6-8 pants and feel great!
If you're only going to read one of Suzanne Somer's books, this would be the one for me. It has all the wisdom, and many of the best recipes. She is a great chef and an excellent teacher; you will learn a lot, and eat VERY well while you lose the weight you want to lose. You won't be hungry, and the weight really WILL just melt away if you follow the protocol, which is neither punishing, difficult or deprivational. In fact, you will eat very well, and happily, while you get skinnier and happier.
I used her plan of eating and lost a wopping 76 pounds! This came from her book entitled "Eat Great, Lose Weight!" This book was not as good as that one was.
This book is an education on healthy living choices for woman over 40. Suzanne Somers brings her own life story to her readers and lives by the same rules for healthy living as the rest of us. She is candid, realistic and inspirational an I want to read her newest book as a follow up. I recommend this book for its sample recipes, and wealth of information about the TOXINS we should avoid for healthier living.I wish she gave her readers some more recipes as we start changing our eating habits though. the additional recipes would offer backup support and motivation for confidence in the beginning of all the new food choices that support healthy living suggestions.
This is my first Suzanne Somers book. I rated it a four stars due to the fact that half of it is dedicated to hormone replacement. I know she is big on the subject, but wasn't aware that almost half of it would be about pushing bio-identical hormones. I can't take them anyway, so to me it was not applicable.I do like the book, though. It is filled with a lot of health information that I was unaware of. The book could have been written a bit better- seemed to be a bit scattered, but overall it is worth reading. Basically this is not a diet, but a healthy way of eating for the rest of your life. It is about cleaning up your diet- removing sugar, processed foods, bad carbs from your daily regimen, and de-toxing your body from all the stored chemicals and fat. It also stresses detoxing your entire environment and body from toxic chemicals.The diet is easy to follow once you get the hang of it. The way it was written could have been better and more organized. The eating plan is divided into 3 phases. Detox, Weight Loss, and Maintenance. Detox is not easy, but it is doable. Stick with it. You will have to give up processed sugar, bad carbs, soft drinks and alcohol. You will be eating clean. Veggies, protein, good fats, fruit and some good carbs like whole grain toast, oatmeal, etc... But, not many. More good carbs are added in Phase two and more in three, along with an occasional sweet treat.If you go back to eating like you did in the past, you will undo all the good you did, no matter what plan you follow. I like this wayof eating. Can't wait to eat rice, potatoes,etc... Detox is 30 days. Phase two is followed until you reach goal weight. Then maintenance. The book also has a list of toxic chemicals to avoid in your beauty and cosmetic products. This was a big revelationto me! I didn't realize all the junk I was putting on my skin every day. I decided to really clean up this part of my regimen, and so glad I did. Thank you, Suzanne for shedding light on this subject.I am still in the detox phase. In two weeks I dropped 9 lbs. I know that the weight loss will taper off, but it will continue to drop. The recipes in the book are simple and delicious. The most important lesson I learned was how bad sugar and processed carbs like chips, pretzels, candy is for your body. I didn't realize that your body stores this type of "food" as fat. I am learning to eat better and make better choices. It all boils down to eating right and exercising. Bottom line. This book can help you realize your goals.
This book had some useful info about processed food and how food works on your body but other then that it was a waste. All through the book, she suggest going to her web site for more info. When you do go to the web site, you have to become a member and pay more money for any info.I even sent them an email with a question about the book and got no response.
